Increase of sales transactions in March 2010
The National Statistics Institute (INE) has published the data on sales transactions for March 2010 in Spain. The data suggests positive developments in the housing market with a tendency to return to normality as, for the third consecutive month, the house sales have registered a new increase.
The purchases and sales of homes have increased by 9% in March 2010 compared with the same month of 2009. A total of 37 561 transactions have been carried out, of which 18 367 are for new build properties and 19 193 on second-hand homes.
Evolution of mortgage lending and property sales
The upward trend of mortgage granting continues, according to the latest data on capital borrowed from financial institutions to purchase homes, which now reaches 6,478 million euros.
The signs of recovery in the housing sector in Spain are becoming clearer, as indicated by the last data published concerning the number of mortgages on homes. In February 2010 this figure increased by 8.5% compared to February 2009, reaching 54,813 the number of mortgages granted, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
18.70% increase on property purchases
Data published by the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE) for February 2010 confirm what many were already announcing: an improvement in the number of sales transactions carried out in Spain following the announcement by the Spanish Government about the VAT increase and the decline in house prices.
According to data provided by the National Statistics Institute during February 2010, housing sales transactions increased by 18.70% reaching 41,033 units, the relevance of this information becomes more significant when compared with the data for the same period during 2009 during which the number of transactions remained at 34,669 units.
